Pike fishing tips..........

Recommended Posts

Well I have been into fishing of all sorts all my life & after having a few near misses down on the Frome last yr I'm going to have a bash on the Pike this friday. I have got the baits lined up & the tackle but was just wondering if any of you could advise on what lures/spinners seem to do the job , Any other advise is also very welcome....... :whistling:

Most of my pike angling is based around static’s, I am a firm believer that the larger Pike will to taken on a well presented dead bait, that I have no doubt. But lure angling also plays a large part in my life, I have taken from more larger pike on the static’s than lures, but having said that, my PB on a lure stand sat twenty seven, my PB on a static stand just over twenty eight and a half, but certainly most of my larger pike have fallen to static’s.

Lure’s that I use would be the Rapala, is make is one of the best I have ever used and has taken may a good pike for me, then I use what’s call the Bulldawg, but if I was to suggest a lure to use it would be the Rapala super shad.

Hope this helps.

had any luck today?! i know its abit late but my top tip for a very good chance of catching a pike is live bait (if allowed!!). 3'-5'inch is perfect for jacks and low doubles. use bigger for the bigger pike! never really had any luck with lures or spinners sorry!

tight lines, Mat

p.s i know live baiting is not everyones cup of tea, but it does give good results.

First time & I had three Jacks up to about 4lb................2 with an orange shad & 1 on a drifting deadbait. Had alot of hits on the spinner & fair play those jacks are savage little b*****ds !!!!!...The fella I went with had a nice 10lb after about 10 mins of starting & a small jack later on a plug. Fair play I really enjoyed the day out & hope to have another go soon....
